Setting up the 14-651 is a breeze thanks to features such as the easy-access 3/8-inch-capacity drill chuck and adjustable rack-and-pinion fence. A height attachment increases the mortiser's capacity by 1-3/4 inch, and if you still need more height, you can simply turn the 14-651's head 180 degrees to mortise off-table.

Engaging and releasing via an efficient rack-and-pinion system, the 14-651's head features an adjustable dovetail option for intricate jobs. The lever locks down and is long enough to provide that extra torque you need to mortise especially hard woods.

The handle to pull the drill bit into the material is hard to pull. The expander cannot be bolted into the machine.4. The drill bits are poor quality and difficult to install and use.

The machine came all greasy and was difficult to wipedown. It was easier to setup my drill press and use than using this machine.

For the price the product is great. It was very easy to assemble and by reading a few short articles on the Internet about making mortise and tenon joints, I was able to make a small table for our deck with perfect joints the first time out.The chisels seem to be of very good quality and I think they will hold up well for a few years.This is not the machine for the professional cabinetmaker, but for the home shop guys and gals this perfect in the perfect price range.

The fence on my Delta mortise machine broke after abouttwo years of use. I called Delta and was told that they no longer make that replacement part. Yes, the *fence* broke. It broke whilewithdrawing the chisel from a hole. So, my broken fence will cost me about $300, but Delta won't be getting it. Caveat Emptor.

Last month I was drilling holes and the coupler broke. My only option is to buy another machine, (not Delta) wait for the part then sell the Delta. Ok, I've used it for a few years with no problems. My local tool dealer told me how great this Mortising Machine was. Same maker, cheaper parts. Doesn't that seem unreasonable to you.

I'll be out of operation for 5 months.

Now I understand The part is on back order until October.

There mortising machine is the same as Deltas.

At least they had the part.

The package was not damaged. I had to return two damaged machines to finally get a good one. I rated it 2 stars because of the quality contorl from the factory. It had to packed up already damaged. After the second unit that had a cracked casted yoke assembly, Amazon removed thwe item from their site and had the vendor investigate the problem. The problem was not with the shipper. I have to compliment Amazon for working this out and being very responsive. I finally got an undamaged mortiser yesterday and after the short assemby and a single test it does perform as expected.The actual mortiser is very well made and is easy to use.
